Stress Relief Gifts

Looking For Stress Relief Gifts?

Stress relief gifts are some of the nicest gifts you can give. One can't really make a list of the very best stress relief gifts, or the top ten stress relief gifts, because people are different, and the perfect gift for one may not do all that much for another.

Some gifts are nice gifts, but don't necessarily do anything too relieve stress, although if there's a nice thought behind the gift, or if it's something someone really needs, it can be helpful from the standpoint of stress relief. Then there are those gifts, and they are countless, that seem designed to increase stress. Beware of gift cards or certificates that have an expiration date, especially ones that expires nest week. You don't want your already stressed-out friend to have to figure out how to arrange a visit to the store before the expiration date, or even have to worry about the date if it’s a few months away.

Similarly, be a little careful about consumable items that are not only consumable but perishable. A basket of fruit is nice, but a bushel of pears or peaches could create stress, particularly for one not experienced in canning. A tie, shirt, or blouse that the person had better be wearing the next time you see him or her is also a stress-creating gift.

Buck Privates - So what do you give your uptight friend? It's said laughter is the best medicine and that seems to apply to stress relief as well. Even though the relief may be temporary, comedy sometime works wonders. A DVD may do the trick, but a movie can only be watched so many times. These days one can find boxes of DVDs, often quite reasonably priced, featuring multiple Abbot and Costello movies, Laurel and Hardy movies, silent films, or the misadventures of The Three Stooges. A humorous book or several comic books, the funny ones like Archie, can provide a few minutes or even hours of enjoyment.

Newspaper Editor Good Guy, Saloon Owner Bad Guy - Buy a box of western B-movies. They weren't intended as comedy when they came out in the 30's and 40's, but have a humorous aspect to them these days. Maybe it's because the plots are so predictable, and the acting is sometimes a little less than sterling. Shooting at someone with a six shooter from horseback when you're a quarter mile away can seem a bit humorous

Even action movies can make good stress relief gifts, although you may have to be a bit more careful here. There are those though that will always enjoy taking a break to watch one of the Bourne trilogy movies for the 15th time.

The Gift Of Music - Music soothes the soul. If you know what kind of music your friend likes best, fine, otherwise its best to settle on something you believe to be relaxing and somewhat slow paced. Even if a person likes to relax to the sound of heavy metal or rap, it can drive others in the household to distraction, creating more stress for everyone.

Start Looking - Consider anything that looks good, smells good, tastes good, or feels good as potential stress relief gifts, and you probably won't go wrong. What smells good? Flowers, bath salts, aromatic candles and lotions. What tastes good? Chocolate, a bottle of fine wine, beef jerky, a basket of fruit, or the smell of an exotic blend of coffee. The food and beverage ideas here are endless. What sounds good? Soothing music obviously. But consider a gift of bamboo wind chimes, much more soothing than metal. What looks good? In this case stress relieving images are in the eye of the beholder. What feels good? Yoga does. Consider giving a gift card for yoga lessons, or how about a hammock?
